About
Pocket Verdict started as a group chat where a few of us kept swapping screenshots of games we couldn't put down. At some point we figured we might as well write it all down properly, so other people wouldn't waste an afternoon on something that looked great in the store but fell apart after level three.
Every game we cover gets actually played — not just opened for five minutes. We sit with it for a few sessions, poke at the systems, and only then do we write. If a game is grindy or the controls fight you, we say so. If it surprises us, we say that too.
We pick titles from a mix of what's trending, what readers send us, and what we stumble on while browsing late at night. Genre doesn't matter much to us — a clever card game can be as worth your evening as a big RPG.
There's no algorithm deciding our scores. A rating here is just the opinion of people who played the thing, with all the bias and taste that implies. We think that's more useful than a sterile checklist.
